Handing out long service awards and meeting royalty are among the highlights on the second day of the Suffolk Show for President Bishop Martin Seeley.
Bishop Martin and his wife the Revd Canon Jutta Brueck, are having another action-packed visit as they mingle with tens of thousands of visitors at the Suffolk Show ground.
Bishop Martin, who celebrated his 70th birthday during the Show’s first day, is taking a keen interest in Suffolk’s agricultural economy.
He said: "Celebrating a milestone birthday at what is the county’s largest two-day visitor experience and meeting so many people was great fun yesterday. There is a huge variety of careers available in the farming sector here in Suffolk for young people to enter and I am particularly delighted to be able to meet with those who have pledged their livelihoods to looking after livestock and growing crops to bring food to our plates. Handing out the long service awards today will enable me to gain further insight into the lives of those who work so hard, sometimes in challenging weather conditions and also at inconvenient times of the day and night throughout the year. I will be thanking them for their dedication, their hard work, their patience and their resilience in looking after our beautiful Suffolk landscape and animals."
The awards were presented at 10.30am in the courtyard after the couple have been in the flower and garden show in the main marquee.
