King Edward VI CEVC School Chaplain

Three-year fixed term contract

£28,000 per annum FTE

The Diocese of Ipswich and St Edmundsbury is seeking to recruit a Chaplain to support and develop the Christian ethos at King Edward VI CEVC School, guiding pupils on their journey of discipleship, while offering pastoral support to everyone within the school community, particularly its most vulnerable students and their families.

The Chaplain will be part of the Diocesan Mission and Ministry Team that seeks to support the making of new disciples of all ages in both parish churches and fresh expressions of church. This role will assist in implementing the Diocesan Growing Younger priority within Bury St Edmunds as part of our Diocesan Growing in God strategy.

This role provides a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact on students, their families and staff by enhancing, supporting and developing the Christian ethos and life of the school and by working with school pastoral colleagues to provide pastoral care and wellbeing support to as required. Fundamentally, the post holder will demonstrate Christian faith in action and strive to raise the aspirations, broaden spiritual wellbeing and moral values of students.

The successful candidate will need to have the proven ability to lead Christian acts of worship, the ability to build effective working relationships and trust with a range of stakeholders at all levels and from all faiths, demonstrate empathy towards others and have experience handling sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner. Proven safeguarding training and/or qualifications are essential in this role, as is the ability to relate to the issues and concerns facing children of secondary school age and a commitment to furthering the goals, vision and values of both the School and the Church of England.
