Growth Fund

The Growing in God Growth Fund can provide a small amount of money to help your church engage creatively in sharing faith in word and deed, and as a result grow the church in number and younger.  You can apply for a grant of up to £1,500 to support an outward facing initiative to develop your church’s mission to the wider community.

"I am pleased to announce that the fund available for 2022 to 2026 has increased from £10k to £35k per year. The fund supports projects with a clear missional objective".  The Revd Phil Dykes

What kinds of projects do we fund?

We are keen to support missional projects that focus on Growing Younger or Growing in Number, and projects that would not happen without the support of this grant.  We would hope to see activities that have a clear missional objective this is achievable within a reasonable timescale.

Please note we do not fund salary or wages.

Who is eligible?

If you are a benefice, parish or new congregation in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich you can apply.  We would like you to have a Plan for Growth in place for your benefice (or be working towards this), and for you to be able to show how the project fits in with that.  If you are in receipt of a waiver for Parish Share you can still apply.  A benefice can apply more than once in a year but please coordinate your applications.

We will prioritise those places who have not received Growth Funds previously.  We will also prioritise those who can't access funds through Inspiring Ipswich (Ipswich Deanery), Growing God in the Countryside or the Suffolk Ministry Development Programme. In order for the funds to be distributed fairly across the diocese, we will also consider applications in terms of geographic location.  Funds will be distributed at the discretion of the fund committee, for members see below.

What will we expect from you?

You will be expected to provide a brief summary of what you did with the money, including pictures (and if possible a video) and an explanation showing how it made a difference to the mission of your church.  This should be done within six months of receiving the funds.  Where appropriate, these will be shared on the Diocese’s website, eNews and/or social media. We will send out a feedback form to help you to do that.

How do you apply?

Please complete the form below:

Application form | DOCX

Please return it to the fund administrator Helen Prior-Townsend together with any supporting documents by the deadline.

We will confirm the receipt of your application within a week.

How quickly will you hear?

If you are requesting up to £500 we will consider your application within a couple of weeks.  If you are applying for more than that, we will consider your application at the next committee meeting which happen every other month in January, March, May, July, September and November.

Any monies received should be used within six months.

How can we help you?

If you would like to discuss your idea or need help with your application, please contact a member of the committee:
