Blyth Valley Churches used their Growth Fund to work alongside local schools to deliver two different workshops, “The Grumpy Owl” and “The Joy of Christmas” respectively. These workshops were delivered at Bramfield Church and Holton Church, which were received very gratefully by schools and the schoolchildren.
Children were heard recalling the story of “The Grumpy Owl” about how he didn’t care and was grumpy, but then he saw Jesus and was filled with Joy. When children were asked in the story what is he feeling, many of the children at each workshop first said “loved” and “belonging”, before they said Joy.
More children attended the Holton Christingle from the previous year, with some of these children showing their parents the owls that they made. Children taking part filled the church with worship songs with joy and guster, singing songs they were familiar with from Nativity or collective worship.
The churches plan to get dates out earlier next time around, so more people can be reached and invited to these tours.
