St Peter and Paul's Church, Kedington, focus on Growing Younger and Growing in Number for their Easter Project.
A £400 grant from the Growth Fund launched an Easter project aimed at engaging with the children and staff of the Kedington Primary Academy, and to bring children and their families to the all ages 'Stations of the Cross' church service on Easter Saturday.
The funding for the project enabled the church to purchase gifts for the children at the events, and the craft items for the Easter garden.
In preparation for the event, school children were invited to help decorate and create items for the church's Easter garden. This was a lovely success, and each year group provided a variety of creative crafts and poems for the garden - Reception class created mosaic crosses on bunting, Year 1 created 3D flowers, Year 2 decorated eggs to hang on the tree, Year 3 created angel bunting, Year 4 made paper tulips, and Years 5 and 6 wrote poems on decorated crosses.
A "thank you" post was put on social media, which garnered a notable amount of positive engagement. One mother of one of the children commented: "Thank you so much for the magnet and mini eggs, my daughter came home very happy and keen to show them to me."
It is hoped that going forward the church will be able to collaborate more with the school to help with classes or lead projects during certain parts of the year (Easter and Advent for example.)
Longer term, the church would like to provide a weekly family service in Kedington once the resources become available for this.
