Rector | Woolpit and Drinkstone Benefice

Could you be the Rector to lead and inspire our two welcoming and well-resourced parishes, building on their strong foundations?

The benefice of Woolpit and Drinkstone is looking to appoint a full-time Rector to our two parishes, only two miles apart but different in size and scope. Situated in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, we are about 50 minutes from Cambridge, an hour to the east coast via the A14, and just over an hour to London by train.

Can you:

  • Lead and inspire our welcoming and well-resourced parishes, building on their strong foundations?
  • Immerse yourself in the lives of these two communities?
  • Develop the untapped potential, particularly in the new housing developments in Woolpit?

If so, you could be just the person we need!

The parishes are looking for an incumbent who can exercise leadership with confidence and compassion, and who will bring energy and creativity to worship whilst honouring traditions and customs.

In return we offer:

  • An opportunity to minister to lively, growing villages with committed and responsive congregations
  • The support of three retired clergy, one Reader, one Lay Elder, and two active PCCs
  • Two fine churches in good order, backed by generous congregations and teams of volunteer fund-raisers
  • A 4-bedroom detached Rectory, next to St Mary’s, Woolpit

For further information, and to apply for the role, please contact: The Ven Dr David Jenkins, Archdeacon of Sudbury, 01473 252829
