Annual Diocesan Chaplaincy Gathering

All Saints Church, Kesgrave, was the setting for this year’s annual Diocesan Chaplaincy Gathering – a day marked by reflection, encouragement, and fellowship among those serving in chaplaincy roles across the Diocese.

Hosted by Archdeacon Rich Henderson (Diocesan lead for Chaplains), the event brought together chaplains from a variety of sectors including healthcare, agriculture, police, education, the military, and the prison service. It offered a valuable opportunity for shared learning and spiritual renewal.

A highlight of the gathering was a keynote address from Revd Matt Buchan, RAF Chaplain, who offered powerful insights into the unique challenges and opportunities of chaplaincy within the armed forces. His reflections on presence, resilience, and hope deeply resonated with those in attendance.

We were also delighted to welcome Bishop Joanne and the High Sheriff of Suffolk as special guests, whose presence affirmed the value and importance of chaplaincy within both church and civic life.

Archdeacon Rich commented, “This gathering is always a moving reminder of the diversity and depth of chaplaincy work across our Diocese. It’s a joy to see chaplains coming together to be encouraged and equipped for the work they do every day.”

The Diocese extends heartfelt thanks to all who attended, and especially to those who serve in chaplaincy – offering spiritual care and compassion in some of the most challenging and vital areas of our communities.
