The Growing in God Growth Fund

What is it?

The Growth Fund can provide a small amount of money to help your church engage creatively in sharing faith in word and deed, and as a result grow the church in number and younger.  You can apply for a grant of up to £1000 to support an outward facing initiative to develop your church’s mission to the wider community.

What kinds of projects do we fund?

We are keen to support missional projects that focus on Growing Younger or Growing in Number, and projects that would not happen without the support of this grant.  We would expect to see activities that have a clear missional objective and are achievable within a reasonable timescale.  Consideration should also be made about how you can include other churches or denominations in your application.  We do not fund salary or wages.

Who is eligible?

If you are a benefice, parish or new congregation in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich you can apply.  We will expect you to have a Plan for Growth in place for your benefice, and for you to be able to show how the project fits in with that.  If you are in receipt of a waiver for Parish Share you can still apply.  A benefice can apply more than once in a year but please coordinate your applications.

How will we choose which projects to fund?

We will prioritise those places who have not received funds previously, and those not supported through Inspiring Ipswich or Growing God in the Countryside.  In order for the funds to be distributed fairly across the diocese, we will also consider applications in terms of geographic location.

What will we expect from you?

You will be expected to provide a brief summary of what you did with the money, including pictures and an explanation showing how it made a difference to the mission of your church.  This should be done within 6 months of receiving the funds.  Where appropriate, these will be shared on the Diocese’s website, eNews and/or social media. We will send out a feedback form to help you to do that.

How do you apply?

Please complete the application form found here and return it to the fund administrator Jacqui Studd together with any supporting documents by the deadline. Postal applications can be sent to Jacqui Studd, Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, 4 Cutler Street, Ipswich IP1 1UQ.   We will confirm the receipt of your application within a week.

How quickly will you hear?

If you are requesting up to £500 we will consider your application within 3 weeks.  If you are applying for more than that, we will consider your application at the next committee meeting which happen every other month.  Any monies received should be used within six months.

How can we help you?

If you would like to discuss your idea or need help with your application, please contact a member of the committee:

The Revd Phil Dykes (chair), The Revd Toby Tate, Hilary Wordsworth-Sewell, Matt Levett, Leonie Ryle and Beccy Hills.
