Easter books for school children - Cockfield Benefice

Cockfield Benefice provides Easter books for school and pre-school aged children within the benefice.

Age-appropriate books about the real meaning of Easter were given to each child in the two Primary schools and the two preschools in the benefice.

The children, particularly in the primary schools, are gaining knowledge of the Bible and are able to and willing to answer questions about the Bible during collective worship. This is especially noticeable in the school that has recently joined the benefice where not much church input had happened recently.

The benefice’s rector was told by one of the mothers of the children how both her boys rushed upstairs after school with their new books to read them as soon as possible!

This distribution of Easter books is one part of overall provision of fairly low-key outreach into the schools and with families: both schools are invited to bimonthly Messy Church, year 6’s are given Scripture Union’s book ‘It’s Your Move’, and a holiday club for primary school aged children operates most summers in August.
