St Edmundsbury Cathedral will join a national stop and pray for Ukraine at 6.00pm on Tuesday 1 March. This will come at the end of the scheduled Choral Evensong. Choristers will sing a Ukrainian Kyrie Eleison – Lord have mercy. A Kyrie is a common name of an important prayer of Christian liturgy. Clergy will lead prayers for all to reflect on the crisis in Ukraine.
Dean Joe Hawes said, “Archbishop Justin has invited all of us to stop and pray for the Ukraine tomorrow at 6.00pm. At Evensong in the Cathedral there will be special prayers. Please come and join us to pray for an end to this terrible war and to stand in solidarity with the suffering.”
The Cathedral has also illuminated internal pillars in yellow and blue to reflect the Ukrainian flag and show our support with those currently living in conflict.
