What is Inspiring Ipswich?

Inspiring Ipswich exists to help Ipswich Anglican churches to grow in depth and in number, to grow younger and to grow our impact across local communities.

In 2019 we were given significant funding from the Church of England and the Diocese to work on four goals:

  • To help make contact with 15,000 new people across the town (so far we’re up to 22,000)
  • To help 7,500 people explore faith (so far we’re at 1,700)
  • To help 1,500 to worship with us at least monthly (so far we’re up to 1,100)
  • To help start 25 new worshipping communities (so far we’re up to 45).

As you can see, there is still a way to go to reach 7,500 people exploring faith, but with our disciple numbers within sight and still plenty of time before our project deadline (December 2025) we are encouraged and excited as we see God’s faithfulness at work every day.

Some days it feels like we’ve been going forever and sometimes that we started yesterday!

We are grateful to all the denary clergy for their dedication and faithfulness.  The deanery feels full of joy and there is a fresh focus on mission, evangelism and prayer.  As a result:

  • many of our churches are growing
  • we now have over 45 new worshipping communities
  • there is a new culture of disciples making disciples
  • many new people are coming to faith through Alpha, Messy Church and our new congregations.

If you’d like to know more or get involved do get in touch. We’d love to hear from you and if you’d like to understand more about the numbers do get in touch with our Project Manager, Karen Macfadyen (inspiring.ipswich@cofesuffolk.org) who has been tracking our numbers assiduously since 2019.

“This project exists that all of Ipswich may be inspired through local Anglican church communities, to live lives full of faith, hope and love - join the adventure!” Archdeacon Rhiannon King
