Welcome to the living, working church of St Mary’s.
This is not just an historic site, but is used daily for the purpose for which it was built nearly 900 years ago. Many generations have altered, beautified and left their mark on the building. St Mary’s continues to develop and evolve, as a holy place made sacred by centuries of prayer and care.
This beautiful and much loved rural church, although not located within the main village, remains of great importance within the community, for both worship and private prayer.
Join us for Worship:
During lockdown and throughout the pandemic our services are either online (and telephone) or at one of the churches within the Benefice depending on the most recent guidance.
Alternate Sundays we have a 9.30am service, although please check under Services and events below or our own website (https://shorelinebenefice.co.uk/services/) as we join our other churches within the Benefice on some Sundays.
We regularly celebrate Holy Communion, amongst other forms of service.
We look forward to welcoming you.
Safeguarding
The parish of Harkstead: St Mary is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of St.Edmundsbury & Ipswich’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the Benefice Safeguarding Officer, Mrs Anne Jowett (See Safeguarding page). If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
